The Makings of The Great Exchange
The Great Exchange was created from a love of thrifting, community, and the excitement of finding the perfect piece at the perfect price.
The idea for The Great Exchange started more than 15 years ago, when a group of my girlfriends would get together and exchange our “loved, but not my love” clothing, jewelry, and décor—while using it as the perfect excuse to spend time together. There was something special about seeing something you were ready to part with become someone else’s new favorite.
That same feeling is at the heart of The Great Exchange. I wanted to create a place where selling feels easy, shopping feels like a treasure hunt, and everyone feels welcome—a place to find something you love, catch up with a friend, and come back often to see what’s new.
Curated, personal, and always changing.
About the Founder
Hi, I’m Amber—the founder of The Great Exchange.
I’m a wife, mom of three, communications professional, small business owner, and lifelong lover of a really good thrift-store find.
My love for secondhand finds first found a home in Sweet Liberty Charm Co., where I get to turn thrifted fabric and beads into new fun finds that add a little bit of charm. The Great Exchange feels like a natural extension of that—combining my love of thrifting and sustainability with something that has always been especially important to me: community.
I hope The Great Exchange feels a little like that—a place you want to come back to, whether you’re here to sell, shop, or just see what treasures showed up this week.
The Great Exchange was born from a love of thrifting, creativity, and community—and the belief that some of the best things deserve to be discovered, shared, and loved again.
We wanted to create a different kind of shopping experience: a place where local sellers can share their style, creativity, and treasures, and where shoppers never quite know what they might find. With closets curated by members of our community and changed regularly, there’s always something new waiting to be discovered. More than anything, we hope The Great Exchange feels welcoming. A place where you feel just as comfortable selling as you do shopping, where supporting locals feels easy, and where you can experience the thrill of the hunt every time you walk through the door. Because sometimes the best finds—and the best connections—come from a great exchange.
